Principle — particularly moral principle — can never be a weathervane, spinning around this way and that with the shifting winds of expediency. Moral principle is a compass forever fixed and forever true.
~ Edward R. Lyman
Are people born with good hearts? Can people learn how to have a good heart? Can people change what they perceive as good or bad whenever they feel like it and be considered a moral person? The answer is yes (and no!) to all these questions depending on who is answering them. What can’t be argued is that true good-heartedness does not change – it remains fixed and unshakable even when tested beyond courage. Trying to act like you have a good heart will only bring disappointment to those who see the real you and also to yourself. Search your soul for instruction and mimic what good people do and you will be a victor over what is considered wicked and evil by most people. A good heart makes a happy person no matter what their condition or situation is in life. It can’t be bought nor can it be taken away, unless of course you let it.
